 WELCOME TO WOODLAND ACADEMY! A Multi-Grade, Independent, Coeducational, Nonsectarian School For Grades Pre-K through Five At Woodland we use a multi-grade approach to education with our Pre-K, K and 1st grades led by the same teacher in the same room. Likewise, we combine 2nd, 3rd, 4th. and 5th. Multi-grade classrooms offer to 1) replace competitiveness with cooperation, 2) provide passive background learning, 3) provide a setting where a student’s learning in single subjects can be reinforced by moving that student between groups with very little attention being brought to their differences, 4) allow students to ‘move up’ with little or no disruption and 5) provide familiar and expectative relationships between teacher and students. Unless demand dictates otherwise, we will not offer 6 - 8 grades during 2009 - 2010.
