Student Code of Conduct
The discipline philosophy of Woodland Academy is to ensure the successful education, safety, and well being of students in a group setting.
Level One offenses may include:
| * | chewing gum |
| * | talking out of turn |
| * | disturbing others |
| * | eating in unauthorized areas or at unauthorized times |
| * | disregarding staff's instructions |
| * | running in hall or on sidewalk |
| * | coming to class unprepared |
| * | throwing objects |
| * | loud boisterous noises |
| * | horseplay |
| * | general misbehavior in cafeteria |
| * | minor defacing of school property |
| Generally, these will be handled by the classroom teacher. However, chronic disobedience may cause a LEVEL ONE offense to become a LEVEL TWO offense. |
| LEVEL TWO offenses will be reported to the Administrator. Level two offenses may include, but are not limited to, the following list. |
| * | cheating or lying |
| * | obscene or offensive language or gestures |
| * | possession of weapons ** |
| * | willfull destruction of school property ** |
| * | insubordination to staff |
| * | having medications without authorization |
| * | stealing ** |
| * | harassment of others ** |
| * | possession of drugs ** |
| * | inflicting bodily harm on another ** |
| * | fighting |
| * | total disruption of school environment |
| ** | may result in immediate expulsion and notification of the proper authorities |
LEVEL TWO offenses may result in immediate removal of the student from the classroom. Parents will be notified of the offense by the administration. A parent conference with the Administrator, teacher, and student is mandatory. Some possible consequences of LEVEL TWO offenses are as follows: expulsion, after-school detention, in-school suspension or at-home suspension. All types of suspension may affect grades. Only expulsion or at-home suspensions may be appealed to the Board. |
