The children of Woodland Academy are eagerly anticipating the publication of their second book, "Creatures of the Chesapeake." Working together on this colorful study of our bay and wetlands has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to use their writing and drawing skills, while learning how a real book comes into existence.
These very special books should arrive in May, and will be available for sale to families and friends at a cost of $14.95 plus $2.95 for shipping. Pre-ordering materials will arrive home shortly, in plenty of time for you to reserve your copy.

We studied photographs of our animals so that our pictures would be accurate, and then we made practice drawings.

2. We used a light box to trace our practice drawings in ink onto special paper. We filled in our outlines with colored pencils.

The Pre-K children worked together to make the colorful school of fish for our cover. They also had fun learning to use the special ink markers and colored pencils.

4. We spent a lot of time doing research and taking notes. We then copied our notes onto the special paper, in our very best handwriting.
